Virginia Tech 45 - Miami 56

Unseasonably-cold and snowy weather blanketed Blacksburg during the Miami game week, and the wind-chill hovered in the teens as the Hokies boarded buses to start the trip for their final regular season game of 2002.

Boarding their Air Miami charter at Roanoke Regional Airport, the Tech travel party was looking forward to heading to South Florida - both for the warm weather and to play a great football game against the nation's top-ranked team.

Flying out of the Star City, the team and staff were treated to great views of the snow covered mountains surrounding Roanoke, the New River Valley and Virginia Tech.

At the Miami Orange Bowl, Coach Frank Beamer chatted with ABC announcers Bob Griese and Brad Nessler during the team's walk-through.

The Hokies stayed at the swank Marriott Biscayne Bay, overlooking the waterfront, a cruise ship port and the downtown Miami skyline.

More than 6,000 Tech fans made their presence felt among the crowd of 76,108 gathered to watch the Hokies take on No. 1 Miami.
