Virginia Tech 42 - Syracuse 50

The Tech defense went into the Syracuse game missing some key players, and with a gutsy Michael Crawford playing after being diagnosed earlier in the week with Lymphoma.

Ernest Wilford showed signs of good things to come on this spectacular catch early in the ballgame.

Lee Suggs scored first for the Hokies on a 15-yard pass reception in the first quarter.

Bryan Randall had a banner day for Tech, passing for 504 yards and five touchdowns, hitting 23 of 35 passes.

Wilford had a record-setting day as well, catching eight passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns.

Garnell Wilds got his name in the record book as well, snagging three interceptions against the Orangemen.
