Virginia Tech 31 - Miami 7

A huge crowd of Virginia Tech's great fans turned out for "the walk" prior to the Hokies' big game against No. 2 Miami, and the surreal scene was truly a special one.

The players were surrounded by thousands of excited fans as they headed from the buses, past the stadium and into the locker room.

Coach Frank Beamer and Governer Mark Warner seemed overwhelmed by the passion and emotion of the frenzied fans.

The Corps of Cadets "Skipper" fired a salute following the national anthem from the playing field in sold-out Lane Stadium.

Everyone in the stadium felt something special in the air during "the bounce" prior to the Hokies taking the field.

The Hokies got the 101st block during the Frank beamer era, from Eric Green, to stop a Hurricane scoring threat in the first quarter.

At the first quarter break, with the score 0-0, Robert Brown, a great former Hokie and Green Bay packer defensive lineman, was honored.

Fittingly, it was a defensive player who shortly thereafter got the Hokies on the board as DeAngelo hall forced a fumble, snagged it in the air, and returned it 28 yards for a touchdown.

The fans in Lane Stadium were having fun as it was BeamerBall on the field for the Hokies.
