Virginia Tech 35 - Texas A&M 19

Despite hurricane Isabel turning lane Stadium into a rainy wind tunnel, a huge Hokie crowd turned out and went crazy before kickoff of the ESPN Thursday night game with Texas A&M.

Vegas Robinson (6) and his 8th-ranked Hokies faced a formidible foe in Reggie McNeal and his 20th-ranked Aggies.

After scoring big in Tech's first two games, the offense wanted to prove to it could play well against A&M's famous "wrecking crew" defense -- and did just that.

During the first quarter break, former Hokie and NFL great George Preas was honored, and his son and wife were on hand to accept a ball and congratulations from A.D. Jim Weaver.

Michael Crawford and the Tech defense did a good job reining in McNeal, holding the Aggies to 272 total yards.

It was BeamerBall in Blacksburg again, as on a few occasions Tech's special teams caused A&M to not get a punt off.
