Virginia Tech 24 - Virginia 10

Electricity was in the air as thousands of Hokie fans greeted the Virginia Tech team as it arrived on campus for the "Battle for the Commonwealth Cup" against the University of Virginia.

Jim Davis and 18 other seniors were introduced with their families before the game -- that was not only for state bragging rights, but for a share of the Atlantic Coast Conference title.

It didn't take long for Davis to make his presence known, as he blocked a Cavalier field goal attempt on the Wahoos first possession of the game.

The Hokies dodged another bullet on UVa's third possession, when Jonathan Lewis recoverd a Wally Lundy fumble on the 8-yard line.

Vinnie Burns punting kept the Hokies from critical situations as the first half was a field-position battle that ended in a scoreless tie. He averaged 43 yard on six kicks in the game.

After Virginia scored a touchdown in the third quarter, Brandon Pace hit a field goal from 31 yards out to make the score 7-3 in favor of the Wahoos.
