Samira Burkhardt (Track & Field, Freshman, Stuttgart, Germany)
Burkhardt became the seventh Hokie so far this season to set an outdoor school record, qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the shot put with a second-place throw of 55-10.5 (17.03m). This beats the previous mark of 55-2.75 (16.83m) set by Brittany Pryor in 2007. Burkhardt is one of 21 individuals to qualify for the outdoor national meet.
