2012: Appeared in 12 games overall and made three starts … Posted a 0-1 record and combined on one shutout with a 4.12 ERA … Threw a total of 24.0 innings and struck out 17 batters … Pitched at least 1.0 innings in every appearance and did not allow an earned run in seven of those … Struck out at least two in five games … Saw his first action as a Hokie, with one inning pitched versus Wagner (3/14), allowing one run on two hits ... Tossed a perfect eighth frame versus his former school, Duke (3/24) ... Made a start at James Madison (3/27), and did not allow a run and struck out one over three frames ... Threw a season-high four frames in start versus Wofford (4/3), allowed two runs on five hits and struck out a career-high six batters ... Struck out two in two scoreless innings of work at Radford (4/10) ... Threw a scoreless inning of relief against Coastal Carolina (4/17) with one strikeout ... In two games out of the pen in the Wake Forest series (4/20-21), worked five scoreless frames with four strikeouts and allowed just one hit and a walk ... 2010 (at Duke): Appeared in 11 games and made three starts for the Blue Devils … Posted a 3-1 record with an 8.13 ERA … Threw 27.2 innings and struck out 17 batters … Started the first game of his career versus Georgia (2/21), throwing three innings and allowing four runs … Won his second career start after tossing five innings, allowing three runs in a 10-3 win over Quinnipiac (3/8) … Also picked up a win in third start, throwing five frames at NC Central (3/31), striking out a season-high five and allowing one run in an 11-2 victory … Picked up final win in a relief appearance against Presbyterian (5/11) tossing 4.2 scoreless innings out of the pen and three strikeouts … Did not allow an earned run over his last six innings pitched.

High School: Was a three-year letter winner for Coach Mike Scott at Darien High ... Posted a 1.75 ERA with 104 strikeouts in 64 innings as a senior ... Allowed just 18 walks ... Threw one no-hitter and five one-hitters ... Also batted .449 with two home runs, four triples and drove in 23 ... Slugged .859 with a .546 on base percentage ... Named MVP of the Connecticut High School All-Star Team as a senior ...
