High School: Earned three varsity letters while playing for Coach Jimmy Bibb at Albemarle … Was named the Commonwealth District Player of the Year as a senior and was a first team all-district performer as an outfielder and pitcher … His senior numbers included a .365 batting average with 12 doubles, a triple, a home run and 15 RBIs while posting an 8-2 record on the mound with a save, 95 strikeouts in 65 innings and a 0.84 ERA … Was a two-time second team all-region outfielder … After junior year, in which he batted .459 with 12 doubles, four home runs and 30 RBIs, and was 6-2 on the mound with a 1.09 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 58 innings, was named first team all-district as an outfielder and second team as a pitcher.
