Hughes says: “Austin is going to have a big year because he’s so focused on winning and becoming a better baseball player for Virginia Tech. He’ll play in the outfield for us and he’ll play first base. Wherever we need him that day, he’ll play, and he’ll be very good at it. We look for him to really jump his stolen base totals up – we’ll cut him loose a little more. I think his power potential, at some point, is going to take off. I think he’s one of the most exciting players in our league. He’s the best athlete I’ve ever recruited, and he’s one of the better kids that I’ve coached, too. He’s all about winning at Virginia Tech and that’s why he’s made the jumps he’s made in the past two years. He’s unselfish and he’s focused on the right things."
