    Information packets, including a list of what to bring, phone numbers, maps, and other information will be mailed to registered campers prior to the start of camp.

    The Fighting Gobbler Swim Camp offers highly individualized training programs for swimmers of all ages and abilities. The mission of the camp is to provide swimmers with top quality coaches who teach on current training methods, motivate campers to reach their potential and develop their appreciation for the sport.


    Coach Ned T. Skinner

    Camp Director

    Ned has been the head swim coach at Virginia Tech for seven seasons. In his tenure, Skinner has coached his teams to three conference titles along with conference champions, US national, NCAA, and Olympic Trials semi-finalists. Coach Skinner has been selected by the NCAA on four occasions to take part in the NCAA Youth Education Through Sports swim clinic program.

    Coach Ned Skinner believes in teaching swimmers to enjoy competitive swimming first. He has published several articles on motivation in swimming and emphasizes the importance of mental and physical preparation of the swimmers he coaches.

    Staff Members
    • Braden Holloway: Braden is the head assistant coach at Virginia Tech and has recent experience at the University of the South. Coach Holloway was an ACC champion and All-American while at North Carolina State.
    • Genny McNeill: Genny is the assistant swim coach at Virginia Tech and was a school record holding swimmer at the University of Arkansas.
    • Bill Beecher: Bill is the head womenÕs coach at Radford University and the former head coach at Virginia Tech. Coach Beecher is also involved with the Southwest Aquatic Swim Team.
    • Members of the Virginia Tech varsity swim team.


    Swim Camp in the Blue Ridge Mountains!

    Swim Camp in the Blue Ridge Mountains! Campers will have the opportunity to experience life in the historic mountains of Southwest Virginia.

    Campers stay on the beautiful campus of Virginia Tech, in newly furnished dorms. The campus features War Memorial pool; an eight lane 25 yard competition end with a bulkhead dividing a diving area with boards 1-5 meters. Weight room, tennis courts, acres of grassy fields, and miles of bike paths also highlight the campus. The dining hall serves a delicious menu featuring low fat/high carbohydrate and vegetarian choices.
    Supervision

    Campers are supervised 24hrs a day. The staff supervises all evening recreational activities and stays in the dorms with the campers. Drugs, alcohol and smoking are strictly forbidden and constitute, along with misconduct, grounds for dismissal from camp without refund.
    Prices for the camp will be as follows:
    • $390 (through May 15)
    • $415 (May 16-June 19)
    • $185 Commuter Rate
    • Team rate (8 or more) minus $25 per person
    • Resident rates include: housing, meals, official camp t-shirt, and guest speakers.
    • Commuter rates include: lunch, official camp t-shirt, and guest speakers.

    Full refund minus a $95 administrative fee up to June 7
    NO REFUNDS AFTER JUNE 14

    • 10:30 PM In dorm lights out
