- MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic
Game one of the doubleheader will feature the hometown Miami Hurricanes versus mid-major power the Winthrop Eagles. The doubleheader will conclude with the Atlantic 10 Temple Owls against the back-to-back defending National Champion Florida Gators.
- WaMu Orange Bowl Fan Fest presented by the City of Miami
The WaMu Orange Bowl Fan Fest presented by the City of Miami is one of the most anticipated events during the Orange Bowl Festival. South Florida natives and out-of-town supporters have a chance to mingle in downtown Miami with music, food and fun under the sun. Spectators at this year's Fan Fest will be treated to live performances by local artist while closing out the night with American alternative rock band Collective Soul. Held the day before the Orange Bowl game, the 2008 Fan Fest will enhance the image, economy, and culture of South Florida. It will also showcase the former players, coaches, bands, cheerleaders, and mascots of the participating teams in the 2008 FedEx Orange Bowl, the Virginia Tech Hokies and Kansas Jayhawks. WaMu Orange Bowl Fan Fest presented by the City of Miami, will run from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Margaret Pace Park. It will be the perfect event for a day of great music and family fun for visitors of the Orange Bowl Festival.
- AvMed Orange Bowl Coaches Luncheon
The most recent AvMed Orange Bowl Coaches Luncheon that took place prior to the 73rd FedEx Orange Bowl showcased head coaches Bobby Petrino of Louisville and Jim Grobe of Wake Forest, as well as the star players from the Cardinals and Demon Deacons. The sold out event, emceed by FOX talents Matt Vasgersian and Laura Okmin, also featured the 2007 inductees to the Regions Bank Orange Bowl Hall of Honor Dennis Erickson (Miami,Fla.), Turner Gil (Nebraska) and Marvin Jones (Florida State) along with several players from the 50th Reunion squads from the 1957 Orange Bowl Classic (Colorado and Clemson).
- Budweiser Orange Bowl Tailgate Party
Fans make sure to come out early to the 2008 FedEx Orange Bowl Championship to experience the thrill and tradition of college football at the Budweiser Orange Bowl Tailgate Party. The Tailgate Party features top musical talent, interactive games, sports memorabilia, Orange Bowl Memory Lane, contests, food and much more. The marching bands and cheerleaders from The University of Kansas as well as the ACC Champion Virginia Tech Hokies will also perform to add to the frenzy of the game day. The 2008 Tailgate Party features regional musical acts such as First October, Hollywood Love Scene, Fifth Gear, And Then There Was You, Howl At The Moon, Tom Jackson, and Brooks Reid Along with the Sonickats. This event has become one of the hottest tickets in the Orange Bowl Festival. Every year, thousands of South Floridians and out-of-town fans party together in more than 150,000 square feet of non-stop fun.
