Consecutive bowl streak stands at 20

The Virginia Tech bowl tradition dates back to 1947 when the Hokies appeared in the Sun Bowl, and in the 65 years since, more than one million fans have witnessed Tech compete in 25 bowl games in 11 different stadiums and in seven states. Tech's invitation to the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando, Fla., extended its bowl appearance streak to 20 consecutive years, the third-longest active streak in the country.

ACC Honors

The 2012 Virginia Tech football team won its final three games to finish 7-6, capped by an overtime win in the Russell Athletic Bowl over Rutgers. Individually, three players were honored by the ACC, including Jack Tyler who was named to the Coaches' All-ACC First Team.

Hokies in the pros

Heading into the 2013 season, over 100 former players under Frank Beamer alone have played in the NFL and in 2012, 24 players were on NFL rosters with nine making the playoffs and one playing in the Super Bowl.
