Moved from backer to mike linebacker during the spring and took a big step forward … Showed a much better work ethic and competitiveness … Made steady improvement at his new position … Saw only brief duty at backer and on special teams in 2009 … Has a chance to put himself in line for more playing time if he continues to work hard through the summer and preseason.

2009: Got playing time in four games … Posted a pair of tackles in the Marshall game while playing on the kickoff unit … Picked up 15 plays at linebacker and four on the kickoff unit against Boston College, collecting a pair of tackles … Also appeared briefly against Alabama and Maryland … Improved in three of the four major lifts during off-season testing … Moved to the mike position during spring practice … Contributed five tackles, including one behind the line during the spring Maroon-White game.

2008: Played nine snaps at linebacker during the Furman game … Started on the kickoff team during the first seven games of the season … Had two assisted tackles for the season and recovered a fumble … Competed for the backer job in the spring … Posted a sack and broke up a pass during one scrimmage … Collected three tackles in another scrimmage … Also had three tackles in the Maroon-White game.
