WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Bill Roth, who handles play-by-play of football and men's basketball on the Virginia Tech ISP Sports Radio Network, has been named the 2002 Virginia Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association.

The award is Roth's second consecutive honor from the NSSA and is the fifth in his illustrious 15-year career with the Hokies. He received the same award in 1995, 1996 and 1999, as well as last year.

"When you receive an award such as this, one that is voted on by your peers, it has special meaning," says Roth, who also serves as the host of ISP's radio talk shows featuring Tech coaches and the ISP Sports Network's weekly television show, Virginia Tech Sports Today.

"This honor is also a reflection of a team effort. It is recognition of what we are doing at ISP Sports to create quality sports programming."
