Virginia Tech Releases 2000 Football Schedule & Ticket Prices
Hokies Will Play Seven Games at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field.

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Seven home games, including the Fourth Annual Black Coaches Association Bowl, highlight Virginia Tech's 2000 football schedule which was released Wednesday by Tech Director of Athletics Jim Weaver.

The BCA Bowl, one of college football's premier preseason games, will pit the Hokies against Georgia Tech at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field. The game will be played on Aug. 26 or 27 and will be televised nationally by ESPN2.

Tech, coming off a record-breaking 11-1 season and an appearance in the national championship game, is slated to play two nationally-televised Thursday night games on ESPN. The first of those two games is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 7 at East Carolin a, while the second is an Oct. 12 game with West Virginia at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field.

Joining Atlantic Coast Conference members Georgia Tech and Virginia on the home schedule are BIG EAST Conference foes West Virginia, Rutgers, Temple and Pittsburgh. Non-conference opponent Akron rounds out the home slate.

The Hokies' 2000 road schedule is a challenging one that includes a BIG EAST showdown at Miami on Nov. 4 that will be televised by CBS. Tech, which won its third BIG EAST championship in 1999, is also scheduled to play league games at Boston College an d Syracuse. Tech's non-conference road trips are to ECU and Central Florida. The Hokies have open dates before their trip to Boston College and prior to their home game with Virginia.

The regular 2000 season ticket price will be $168. Faculty/staff season tickets will be $144. The BCA game, conducted by the Gazelle Group and hosted on the Tech campus, is included in the season ticket package and will cost an additional $35.

Individual home game ticket prices are $28 for Akron, Rutgers, Temple and Pittsburgh. The West Virginia and Virginia contests are priced at $33 each.

The athletics department will again offer Tech students a season ticket option for a cost of $42. The student season ticket includes the six regular season home games with the option to purchase the BCA game versus Georgia Tech for $35.

Tech will again offer Kids' Day Tickets for the Akron and Rutgers games. Kids under age 18 may purchase a $10 ticket at each of those two games.

Times and information on additional television games will not be available until a later date. Following is the complete schedule:
