hokiepages.com BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech Athletics Department announced Thursday the addition of a 13th football game to the 2002 Virginia Tech football schedule. The Hokies will participate in the Hispanic College Fund Football Classic on Sunday, Aug. 25 and will host the Arkansas State Indians, from the Sun Belt Conference, at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field. The home contest marks the eighth for the Hokies in 2002, a school record.

The Hispanic College Fund is the nation's largest scholarship support organization for deserving Hispanic students focusing on business careers. This will be the third such event as Texas Tech and New Mexico played in 2000. Last season, Oklahoma and North Carolina battled in this contest.

"The incredible tradition that Coach Frank Beamer has built at Virginia Tech is a very appropriate venue for our event vs. another fine institution, Arkansas State University," said Fern Barrueta, Hispanic College Fund President and CEO. "Both the states of Virginia and Arkansas are proud to be among the fastest growing Hispanic populations in America. It will be a great event."

The time and television coverage have yet to be determined.
