Hokies To Be Featured on GameDay Spring Special
April 10, 2003

BRISTOL, Conn. - ESPN's critically acclaimed College GameDay crew with host Chris Fowler and analysts Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit will hit the road to cover spring football practice at five college football programs for five consecutive days Monday, April 14 through Friday, April 18.

The five-day series, originating from a different school each day - Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Penn State, Iowa and Ohio State - will be aired on all editions of SportsCenter. The College GameDay special on SportsCenter will debut Monday at 6 p.m.

The football programs in the whirlwind tour will be profiled in an all-encompassing feature titled "Spring Syllabus" - a preview of team strengths, weaknesses and schedule. The spring special on SportsCenter will also feature interviews with coaches and players. In addition, select coaches will be "miked" during practice to provide fans an inside look at the making of a good spring football practice.

SportsCenter spring football features include:

Another Vick at Virginia Tech: Following in the footsteps of his brother, Michael, at Virginia Tech, Marcus Vick was heralded as the heir apparent to the Hokies' quarterback position. This spring, the younger Vick is competing for the job.

Julius Jones - Coming Back at Notre Dame: Jones sat out last season due to academic problems while the Irish and first-year coach Tyrone Willingham recorded an improbable 10-3 season. Entering the 2003 season, Jones is working on a comeback.

Other features will include: Ken Dorsey's Former Job at Miami; The Turmoil in Arizona; and A Tradition of Early Starts at Ohio State.

The College GameDay crew will be at Oklahoma on Monday, Notre Dame on Tuesday, Penn State on Wednesday, Iowa on Thursday and Ohio State on Friday. No date was announced for the Vick piece.
