BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech offense continued to shine and the Hokies had a strong showing from their special teams in Wednesday's limited spring football scrimmage at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field.

A 25-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Michael Vick to André Davis and a 35-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Dave Meyer to Emmett Johnson highlighted today's scrimmage. The Tech offense also registered an 18-yard touchdown run by fullback Joe Wilson.

In goal-line situations, the Hokies got touchdown runs of eight and five yards from tailback Lee Suggs. The Tech offense also received touchdown runs of eight and two yards from tailback Wayne Ward in goal-line situations.

Special teams play also proved to be one of Tech's strong suits during the scrimmage. Place-kicker Carter Warley drilled field goals from 49 yards, 44 yards and 29 yards out. The Hokies had field goals made from 31 and 19 yards out by Jon Mollerup.

The defense was led by defensive end Nathaniel Adibi, who had a team-high three tackles. Linebacker Nick Sorensen had a strong showing with two sacks in the contest.

"I thought we had good effort on both sides of the ball today," said Tech head coach Frank Beamer. "We continue to make some progress, but we still have to keep improving these last few practices."

Tech is in its third week of spring practice. The Hokies will conclude spring drills with their annual spring game on April 29 at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field.
