Tech Maroon-White Game Set For Saturday
Game slated to begin at 2 p.m.

BLACKSBURG, Va. (April 27, 2000) - Just months after completing the greatest football season in school history, Virginia Tech will conclude spring practice with the annual Maroon-White spring football game Saturday afternoon.

The game is scheduled at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field beginning at 2 p.m. There will be no admission charge and parking is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Maroon and White teams will be a combination of both first- and second-team offensive and defensive players. On the Maroon team, returning starters include quarterback Michael Vick, flanker André Davis, offensive linemen Dave Kadela, Anthony Lambo and Josh Redding, linebacker Nick Sorensen and rover Cory Bird. For the White team, returning starters include linebacker Ben Taylor, fullback Jarrett Ferguson and offensive lineman Matt Lehr.

Head coach Frank Beamer, who has guided the Hokies to seven straight bowls, will turn the coaching duties over to his assistants. Offensive coordinator Rickey Bustle will be head coach of the Maroon squad and defensive coordinator Bud Foster will be head coach of the White team.

The game, which will consist of four eight-minute quarters, marks the end of spring practice for Tech. The Hokies are scheduled to open their 2000 football season in Blacksburg against Georgia Tech in the BCA Bowl on August 27.
