Jones Named To All-America Team
Junior RB named to Playboy preseason squad
April 28, 2003 BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech running back Kevin Jones has been extended, and has accepted, an invitation to become a member of the 2003 Playboy All-America team. As a member, Jones will be flown out to the Pointe Hilton Resort at Tapatio Cliffs in Phoenix, Ariz., in May to participate in a weekend of activities, including the photo shoot with all of the All-Americans. "This is a good honor and I'm happy they picked me," Jones said. "This is a great opportunity to go out and meet some other players face-to-face and not just on the field. This is a good accomplishment and I'm excited about going to Phoenix and being named a preseason All-American." Jones, a junior from Chester, Pa., is expected to take over the starting job this season for the Hokies. He rushed for 871 net yards and nine touchdowns on 160 carries. For his career, he has rushed for 1,828 yards and 14 scores. This is the second consecutive year a Virginia Tech running back has been named to the team as Lee Suggs was honored last year.
