BLACKSBURG - Freshman Justin Harper hauled in two long touchdown passes Wednesday afternoon at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field in the second full-contact scrimmage of the spring for the Virginia Tech football team.

Harper, who enrolled in January after spending a semester at Hargrave, caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Bryan Randall against the No. 2 defense before scoring on a 45-yard reception from Marcus Vick against the No. 1 defense. Freshman Cory Holt, the No. 3 quarterback, also got into the scoring action, connecting with tight end Matt Roan for a 20-yard score.

Defensively, James Anderson intercepted a Holt pass and would have scored from 68 yards out, but the play was blown dead after Anderson picked off the pass. Anderson also had three tackles, one of which was for a loss. Darryl Tapp had three tackles, including two sacks, and a fumble recovery. Corey Gordon had four tackles and Bob Ruff had two tackles for loss.
