BLACKSBURG - ISP Sports and the Virginia Tech Athletics Department announced today that WZZU (97.9 FM) will continue to carry Virginia Tech sports broadcasts in the Lynchburg market and central Virginia. The station and ISP Sports have agreed on a multi-year extension of the affiliates' contract to broadcast Tech football and basketball games, daily Hokie updates, and the weekly Advance Auto Parts Hokie Hotline on Monday nights.

"We're delighted to carry the Hokies," Station Vice-President and CEO Bob Travis said. "The positive response we've had over the years from our listeners has been remarkable. Tech fans are very loyal and we're proud to be the home of Tech broadcasts for the thousands of fans in our area."

WZZU-FM covers 11 different counties in Central Virginia and beyond thanks to the station's powerful 25,000 watt signal.

"Tech broadcasts are just excellent," Travis said. "The on-air chemistry between Bill (Roth) and Mike (Burnop) is just magical. We're delighted to be able to renew our affiliation with ISP Sports and the Hokies."

"Having a powerful FM radio station like WZZU in Lynchburg on our network is a big plus for our program," Tech football Coach Frank Beamer said. "I know all our great fans there will enjoy hearing our games and talk shows for years to come there. It's really a great radio station."

ISP Sports develops and produces a variety of marketing opportunities involving Tech Athletics, including live play-by-play game broadcasts of Virginia Tech football and basketball games, plus weekly television programs.

This fall will mark the 50th consecutive year Tech broadcasts will be heard on a state-wide network throughout the Commonwealth.
