BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech offensive lineman James Miller had surgery Friday morning to have his gall bladder removed, according to Director of Athletic Training Mike Goforth.

Goforth said the surgery was a success and Miller should be out 14 days before being cleared to resume off-season training.

Miller, a 6-6, 304-pound junior from Pompano Beach, Fla., is slated to head into preseason camp as the No. 1 man at right guard.

Miller saw action at both left and right guard in 2002. He got the start in the Hokies' first two games at left guard and played 274 regular-season offensive snaps with nine knockdown blocks. His 331-pound clean lift was the third-best among Tech's offensive linemen during spring testing.
