hokiesports.com will host site for running back's awards candidacy
August 10, 2001

BLACKSBURG - On Saturday, hokiesports.com, the Official Athletic Web Site of the Virginia Tech Athletics Department, will launch a comprehensive Web Site solely dedicated to the accomplishments of Lee Suggs, one of the most prolific scorers on the football field in school history.

While practice may begin Saturday for the Hokies, Suggs (who's birthday falls on the launch date) has already been mentioned on numerous preseason All-America teams and has been listed on several watch lists for All-BIG EAST, the Doak Walker Award and the Heisman Trophy, just to name a few.

Last season, Suggs rushed for 1,207 yards and 27 touchdowns en route to All-America and All-BIG EAST honors. His 28 total touchdowns were the fifth-most in NCAA Division-IA single-season history. Suggs was named the Co-BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year and the redshirt junior is just one touchdown away from breaking the school record for most career touchdowns in school history.

Suggs' Web Site is accessible from the home page of hokiesports.com and the football body page. It is the most complete source on the Web for information about Virginia Tech's candidate for several postseason awards. The site will be updated throughout the season to keep media members and fans up-to-date on Suggs' progress throughout the season. The site includes the biography of Suggs, his career stats, awards, records, photos, videos and desktop wallpaper for computers.
