BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer announced Friday the suspension of three football players for a violation of team rules. Ronyell Whitaker will be suspended for two games while both Terrell Parham and Lamar Cobb will be suspended for one game each.

In announcing the decision, Beamer said there would be no further comment on the suspensions.

Whitaker, a native of Norfolk, Va., will miss the Hokies' games against Arkansas State and Louisiana State. The redshirt senior came out of spring practice as the No. 1 man at field corner and will be relieved by Vincent Fuller and Garnell Wilds at the position in his absence.

Cobb, a redshirt senior, will miss the Hokies' Aug. 25 opener against Arkansas State. He is a defensive end from Hurt, Va. Parham, also a redshirt senior, will miss the ASU game. He is a wide receiver from Bartow, Fla.
