August 28, 2002

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech athletics department announced Wednesday the game time for the Hokies' football game against Western Michigan.

The contest, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28 in Waldo Stadium at Kalamazoo, will kick off at noon. The start time accommodates an ESPN Regional telecast. Television clearances for the mid-Atlantic region will be determined and released at a later date.

The game will also reach a national audience as part of ESPN's GamePlan pay-per-view package (see www.espn.com) that is available through local cable providers, DIRECTV and DISH networks.

Fans in Michigan can catch the game on WXMI-TV Fox 17 in Grand Rapids and on WADL-TV Channel 38 in Detroit.

Tech (1-0) faces Louisiana State this Sunday at 2:30 p.m., in a game that will be shown nationally by ABC Sports. ESPN will broadcast Tech's third game, a Sept. 12 contest against Marshall. The Thursday-night game will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Tech's game at Texas A&M has not yet been picked up by television, thus the game time has not been set. Networks have 12 days before the game to select the game for broadcast.
