Georgia Tech Will Not Play in BCA Bowl
Alternate Opponent Being Sought

Princeton, NJ - Georgia Tech Athletic Director, David Braine, confirmed today, that Georgia Tech will not participate in the rescheduled BCA Bowl.

The BCA Bowl, originally scheduled for Sunday August 27th, was postponed due to severelightning and heavy rain.

On Monday, the Gazelle Group (producer of the BCA Bowl), the Black Coaches Association,Virginia Tech, and ESPN agreed to reschedule the game for December 1st.

"The Black Coaches Association is very disappointed and frustrated by Georgia Tech's decision," said Bob Minnix, incoming President of the BCA. "We expected to raise approximately $300,000 from the BCA Bowl to help promote our mission of assisting minority coaches and athletic administrators. We expected all parties to act in good faith to reschedule this game for December 1st."

An alternate opponent is being sought. ESPN or ESPN2 will televise the rescheduled game nationally.
