Freshman Football Players Report To Tech
Practices closed to the public

BLACKSBURG - Twenty-three freshman football players reported to the Virginia Tech campus Monday for three days of academic and athletic orientation, which begin on Tuesday morning.

The group reporting to campus Monday did not include five freshmen who plan to enroll at Tech in January. The players who plan to enter school following the first semester are offensive lineman Reggie Butler of Keswick, Va., defensive lineman/tight end Andrew Fleck of Edmond, Okla., defensive lineman Brandon Frye of Myrtle Beach, S.C., wide receiver Fred Lee of Harrisburg, Pa., and offensive lineman Danny McGrath of Herndon, Va.

The remainder of the Tech squad is scheduled to report on Thursday, Aug. 9. The Hokies' first full practices begin Saturday, Aug. 11. All Tech football practices and scrimmages will be closed to the public.

The Hokies are scheduled to open the 2001 season against the University of Connecticut at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field on Sept. 1.
