Green Undergoes Successful Surgery
August 8, 2002

BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech junior cornerback Eric Green underwent reconstructive surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) Thursday morning at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

Surgery was performed by Dr. Marc Siegel, team orthopedic surgeon. According to Tech Director of Athletic Training, Mike Goforth, an arthroscopic evaluation determined that both menisci were intact, the chondral surfaces were unharmed and that there was a clean tear of the left ACL.

Dr. Siegel performed a hamstring tendon graft to repair the torn ACL. Green, a native of Clewiston, Fla., is expected to begin preliminary rehabilitation on Friday.

Green will begin work on the HydroTrack, an underwater treadmill, when exterior wounds have fully healed.

Green has a redshirt year remaining and is expected to return to the Hokies as a redshirt junior for the 2003 season.
