JV Football Team Blanks Fork Union, 49-0
Easlick leads Hokies with three touchdowns

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Tailback Doug Easlick (Marlton, N.J.) rushed for three touchdowns as the Virginia Tech jayvee football team defeated Fork Union Military Academy, 49-0, at the Frank O. Moseley Practice Field on Friday.

Tech jumped to a 14-0 lead on touchdown runs of 9 and 10 yards by Easlick and led 21-0 at the half following a 19-yard TD pass from quarterback Grant Noel (Ridgeley, W.Va.) to tight end Keith Willis (Norfolk, Va.).

Easlick opened the second-half scoring with an 8-yard touchdown run at the 9:33 mark of the third quarter. Fullback Joe Wilson (Newport News, Va.) added a 2-yard TD plunge with 5:45 left in the game. Terrell Parham (Bartow, Fla.) closed out the scoring with a pair of pass interception returns for touchdowns during the final five minutes. Parham's first return covered 56 yards and the second 24 yards. Jon Mollerup (Lyndhurst, Va.) connected on six extra-point kicks and Matt Felber (McLean, Va.) made one.

Tech, 1-0, finished the game with 344 yards of total offense, including 246 yards on the ground. Easlick ran for 75 yards on seven carries, while Wilson added 56 yards on five rushes. Noel completed 8 of 13 passes for 98 yards. Willis, Easlick and split end Ronald Moody (Chesapeake, Va.) each had two receptions.

The Hokies limited FUMA to minus-2 yards rushing and a total of just 101 yards of offense. An interception by Dirk Taylor (Penn Laird, Va.) at the Tech 4 secured the shutout with less than a minute remaining in the game.

Fork Union's biggest play was LeAndre Boone's 72-yard return of the opening kickoff. Boone also had a 37-yard interception return for the Blue Devils. FUMA quarterback Stacey Tutt completed 3 of 10 passes for 79 yards during the game.
