Davis likely out, Jones doubtful for WMU

The news on the injury front isn't getting any better as Tech trainer Mike Goforth said at Tuesday's press conference that Jim Davis probably will miss the Western Michigan game. Davis, a defensive end from Richmond, injured his back while lifting weights and is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday afternoon. Goforth should get the results of that MRI later Tuesday afternoon.

"We expect it to be a problem with a disk, but we won't know for sure what it is or how to treat it until we get the MRI back," Goforth said. "I would expect him to be out Saturday, barring a miracle."

Also, true freshman tailback Kevin Jones is doubtful for Saturday's game with the Broncos. Jones suffered a deep thigh bruise in the UConn game and then re-injured it in practice on Monday. He will be held out of contact drills Tuesday and Wednesday.

"He's a little better and we're upbeat," Goforth said. "There's a chance we could get him back for Saturday. I'm not saying it's a good chance, but there is a chance."
