Hokies to walk up Spring Rd. before BC game
Tech to start new tradition
October 11, 2001

In following a tradition in place at many other schools, Virginia Tech will start one of its own Saturday evening, which is similar to those at other big time football programs. As the team arrives at Lane Stadium on game day, they will be dropped off at the corner of Spring Road and Southgate Drive (Hokie Club Lot No. 2). Hopefully, Tech fans will take a break from tailgating and gather on both sides of Spring Road to cheer the team as they walk to the Merryman Center.

The football team (dress squad) will proceed up the road and pass by Lane Stadium before entering the Merryman Center to prepare for the game. Tech head coach Frank Beamer requests that the fans stay on the sidewalk and curbs because the team will be led by a motorcycle police escort, the Highty Tighties Band, the Tech cheerleaders with the HokieBird, along with Beamer and the team captains.

The team will arrive at 4:30 p.m. for the 6:30 p.m. kickoff against BC. Fans should find their favorite spots and be ready to cheer the team as they get ready to play BC.
