Rutgers, Temple Games to be Broadcast
Hokie Grill to host "Big Screen" party for Homecoming game
October 18, 2002

BLACKSBURG - Due to an overwhelming demand for student tickets, the Virginia Tech Athletics Department and the Office of Student Affairs announced Friday that both the Rutgers and Temple football games will be shown live on campus television.

A live feed from HokieVision, the scoreboard in Lane Stadium, will be broadcast on campus television channel 35. There will be no announcers or sound, just a live feed from the scoreboard, and the games will only be shown on campus television. Students can listen to Bill Roth and Mike Burnop's call of the game on radio while watching it if they tune into 105.3 FM.

The Hokie Grill, located in Owens Dining Hall, will host a "Big Screen" party where food and drinks will be available. The party gets started at 12:30pm and will go until the end of the Homecoming game on Oct. 19th.

Earlier this week, the athletics ticket office distributed its entire allotment of over 17,000 student tickets for this week's Homecoming game versus Rutgers. A similar demand is expected for Tech's Oct. 26 contest against Temple.

The closed-circuit telecast is a way to ensure that all students on campus can still watch the game.

Game times for both games are set for 1 o'clock.
