Pugh, Whitaker Not Among Travel Squad
November 10, 2001

PHILADELPHIA - David Pugh and Ronyell Whitaker did not make the trip to Philadelphia for the Hokies game against Temple.

Pugh did not respond to treatment for his injured knee and will not dress. He sprained the MCL in his left knee in last Saturday's loss at Pittsburgh. Senior Dan Wilkinson will replace him at the nose tackle spot.

Whitaker is suspended for this game for violating team rules. He will resume full activity with the team on Sunday and will be available to play next Saturday at Virginia. True freshman DeAngelo Hall will likely make his first career start at the boundary corner position.

On the injury front, Nathaniel Adibi (shoulder) and Jake Houseright (abdominal) will both dress and will play. The question mark is Larry Austin, who re-aggravated his hamstring injury last week. If he cant go, expect Garnell Wilds to start at the field corner position.

Changes on offense this week include Kevin Jones taking over at tailback and Emmett Johnson moving up to the No. 1 split end spot for the injured Shawn Witten. Johnson will be backed up by Ernest Wilford.

On defense, Jim Davis and Cols Colas will make their first career starts, both at defensive end. It is Brian Welch's week to start at the mike linebacker spot, as he rotates with Houseright each week. And finally, it is a game-time decision at the whip linebacker between T.J. Jackson and Mike Daniels.

Kickoff at Veterans Stadium is set for noon. There is no television coverage.
