BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech jayvee football team will take on the Hargrave post-graduate football team in its final game of the year Friday at 1 p.m. The game, which is free and open to the public, will take place at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field.

Virginia Tech won its only other jayvee game this season, defeating Fork Union Military Academy 17-14 on Oct. 14. In that game, Lance Goff tossed a 31-yard touchdown pass to John Thibodeau with 1:21 remaining to give Tech the win.

Tech's roster will be made up of mostly walk-ons and reserves who the coaches want to get an extra game's worth of work. In order to be eligible, a player can not be redshirting this season (Marcus Vick, Brandon Gore, Noland Burchette, etc.) and must not have played in every varsity game thus far for Tech this season. Players who have played on the varsity team this year, but missed a game due to injury (Jimmy E. Williams, Blake Warren, etc.) or did not play in a game (John Candelas, Chris Clifton, Nic Schmitt, etc.) can also play.

Hargrave is 7-1 on the season and features numerous Division I-A prospects. A sheet with both rosters will be available on the bleachers near the ramps on the west side.

The Tigers started the season with a 70-7 win over Averett University, followed by a 67-7 win over Frostburg State. Hargrave then defeated the United States Naval Academy (14-3) and Catawba (10-2) before dropping a 29-7 decision to Shaw University. The Tigers bounced back with a 20-15 win over North Carolina, a 65-12 win over Averett and a 28-14 win over Fork Union Military Academy.

Last season, Alex Markogiannakis' punt block and Sam Fatherly's nine-yard return of it for a touchdown turned the tide for good as the Virginia Tech jayvee team downed Hargrave, 19-15.
