Davis Lands Another Honor
Senior honored for special teams play

BLACKSBURG -Virginia Tech wide receiver/return man André Davis has been named a semifinalist for the 2001 Mosi Tatupu Special Teams Player of the Year Award, as announced Tuesday by the Hula Bowl Maui and the Maui Quarterback Club.

Davis, who is Tech's all-time leader in punt return yards, was an All-American a year ago for his punt return performances. This year, he is averaging 12.5 yards per punt return and 22.6 yards per kickoff return. He has one touchdown this season on punt returns and four for his career.

The winner of the award will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show, which will air on ESPN starting at 9 p.m.

The winner of the award will be invited to Hawai'i to play in the 2002 Hula Bowl Maui All-Star Football Classic. The Hula Bowl Maui will kickoff at 8 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002 and will be played at the newly renovated War Memorial Stadium.
