BLACKSBURG - Jake Grove and Kevin Jones of Virginia Tech have both been named first-team All-Americans by The Sporting News, as announced Tuesday morning. It marks the third first-team squad both have been named to as they were honored by both the Football Writers Association of America and the American Football Coaches Association. Additionally, defensive back DeAngelo Hall was named to the second team, marking the junior's first-ever All-America honor.

Grove, a finalist the Rimington Award, has graded out at 91.8 percent for the season on over 700 offensive plays and leads the offensive line in knockdowns with 48. The senior from Forest, Va., who made the team as a center, is a two-time All-American as he made The Sporting News' fourth-team last year.

Jones, a junior running back from Chester, Pa., has broken three school records this year with one game remaining. He rushed for 241 yards at Pittsburgh and has rushed for 1,494 yards this season. He also has eight 100-yard games this year. All three are new school marks. Jones, a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, announced last week that the Insight Bowl against Cal will be his final game as he will enter the NFL Draft.

Hall, from Chesapeake, Va., is a leader of the secondary, recording 80 tackles, five pass breakups and an interception. He has scored five touchdowns this year, one on defense, two on offense and two on special teams. He was one of 13 semifinalists for the Thorpe Award, given to the nation's top defensive back, and was named a first-team All-BIG EAST Selection as both a defensive back and return man.

Additionally, four Hokies were named to The Sporting News' Freshman All-BIG EAST squad. On offense, quarterback Marcus Vick, along with lineman Brandon Gore, were selected. On the defensive side, end Noland Burchette and linebacker Aaron Rouse were honored. Both Burchette and Rouse were named to the Freshman All-America squad as honorable mention selections.

Both Grove and Jones will be in Orlando, Fla., for the Home Depot College Football Awards Show. The show airs Thursday night from 7-9 p.m., live on ESPN.
