Several Hokies have earned All-America honors from different publications, as released Monday. Junior cornerback Jimmy Williams has been named to both the SI.com and Rivals.com 2004 All-America second teams. In the same SI.com article, head coach Frank Beamer has been named the National Coach of the Year.

Williams is fifth on the team in tackle with 50 and has four interceptions and 14 pass break ups. Beamer led the Hokies to a 10-2 record and an ACC title in Tech's first season. The Hokies will face No. 3 Auburn on Jan. 3, 2005 in the Nokia Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

Also earning honorable mention honors from SI.com were tight end Jeff King and defensive end Darryl Tapp.

Five Tech freshmen were also honored for their play this year by The Sporting News. Linebacker Vince Hall and defensive end Chris Ellis have been named third-team Freshmen All-Americans by the publication while Hall took home ACC Freshman Defensive Player of the Year honors. Both Hall and Ellis were named to TSN's Freshman All-ACC team, joining Josh Hyman, Xavier Adibi and Roland Minor on the squad.
