December 5, 1999

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech Athletics Department announced Sunday evening that Bronze Athletic Fund club members and above, who pre-ordered tickets for the Sugar Bowl, will receive game tickets. In addition, approximately forty-percent of its Orange and Maroon club members will also receive game tickets.

The Virginia Tech Athletics Department will receive an allotment of 16,000 tickets for the Jan. 4 championship game against Florida State.

Due to the high demand for tickets to the Bowl Championship Series game, the Department was unable to fill all ticket requests made by its Athletic Fund members and its other football season ticket holders. The Ticket Office received requests for approximately 24,000 tickets.

The Tech Ticket Office will mail an official notice on Monday, Dec. 6 to those individuals not receiving bowl tickets that it was unable to fulfill their Sugar Bowl ticket request. The Tech Ticket Office expects to mail Sugar Bowl tickets next week.

Tech also received approximately 14,500 student bowl ticket entries for its student ticket lottery. The lottery will be conducted on Dec. 7 to determine those Tech students who are eligible to purchase a Sugar Bowl ticket from a student ticket allotment.

The Tech Ticket Office has no other tickets available for the Sugar Bowl contest.
