Goforth Honored by NATA
Tech trainer given Division I Over and Above Award

BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech's Mike Goforth, ATC, has been selected as one of the National Athletic Trainers' Association's 2005 College/University Athletic Training Committee (CUATC) Award recipients.

This award recognizes outstanding service to the athletic training profession and the National Athletic Trainers' Association at the college or university Division I level. Candidates for the award must have held the Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) credential conferred by the Board of Certification for at least 15 years.

"Mike is richly deserving of the award," said NATA College/University Athletic Training Committee Chair, Ron Courson, ATC. "He has dedicated his career to the betterment of the athletic training profession."

The CUATC presentation was made on June 14 at NATA's 56th Annual Meeting & Clinical Symposia in Indianapolis, Ind.

Goforth is entering his sixth year as the director of athletic training and eighth year on Virginia Tech's athletic training staff. Goforth graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1991 and earned his master's from Virginia Tech in 1995.
