Tech/NCSU game sets ESPN2 mark

Virginia Tech's 20-16 victory over N.C. State this past Sunday night was the highest-rated and most-watched college football game (regular-season game or bowl game) in the history of ESPN2. It averaged a 2.47 household rating and 2,197,808 household impressions.

The game also was the eighth highest-rated telecast ever on ESPN2 (any sport), and it was the fifth most-viewed telecast ever on ESPN2 (any sport).

With the win, Tech moved up in both the Associated Press and the USA Today top 25 polls. Tech is ranked seventh in the AP poll and sixth in the USA Today Coaches' poll. The Hokies head to Durham, N.C., this Saturday for an ACC road game against the Duke Blue Devils. Kickoff is slated for noon.
