BLACKSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer, who guided the Hokies to an Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division title and a berth in the Dr. Pepper ACC Football Championship, has been selected the ACC Coach of the Year by the conference's media association for the second year in a row.

Beamer's Hokies take a No. 5 national ranking, a 10-1 overall record and a 7-1 conference mark into Saturday's title game against Florida State.

It marked the fifth conference coach of the year honor for Beamer at Tech. In addition to last year's honor, he was named the BIG EAST Conference Coach of the Year in 1995, 1996 and 1999. Beamer was the consensus national coach of the year in 1999.
