Virginia Tech's Dana Felder A Finalist In Athlon Sideline Spirit Contest
Winner to be featured in 2006 Athlon Sports College Football Preview

Virginia Tech's Dana Felder, a sophomore from Chesterfield, Va., is one of seven finalists in the Athlon Sports Sideline Spirit Contest.

The third annual Athlon Sports Sideline Spirit contest - - kicked off its final round of voting on Monday, Nov. 28, as participants vie for the opportunity to earn a photo shoot in the 2006 Athlon Sports College Football Preseason Annual and earn $1,000 for her spirit squad. The person with the most votes from now until Jan. 4, the day of the national championship game, will be the winner of this year's program.

Kelly Dupree of Kentucky, Lara Benninger of West Virginia, Alaina Carson of Auburn, Megan Martz of Indiana, Casey Martin of Texas Tech and Shaina of Arizona State all advanced to the final round by either winning one of the preliminary rounds or earning the most votes of any participant in her conference during the season.

Felder won Round 3 with 15,712 votes.

"Dana Felder is not only an extremely gifted athlete but also a very caring person," head coach Rickey Hill said. "She is living proof that hardwork and dedication equals success. She always gives no less than her very best effort both in practice and in front of the crowd."

Visitors to are permitted to vote once per day.

Andrea Bianchi of West Virginia won last year's contest.
