December 9, 2005

ORLANDO, Fla. - The third of the five major All-America squads was released Friday afternoon and Virginia Tech's Jimmy Williams was named to the first team by the Football Writers Association of America.

The Cingular ABC Sports All-America Team Celebration show will be taped Friday night at Disney's MGM Studios and will air Saturday afternoon.

It marks the third All-America squad for the senior as he was named to the AFCA and Walter Camp first-teams. By making this third of five first teams, Williams is now a consensus first-team All-American. The last two major All-America squads are the Associated Press and The Sporting News. Those will be released at a later date.

Williams, from Hampton, Va., was a finalist for both the Bronko Nagurski and Jim Thorpe Awards. Williams has 44 tackles and an interception.
