Hokies Hold Second Scrimmage
Bell and Weatherford each score a touchdown

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech football team held its second spring scrimmage Saturday afternoon in Lane Stadium with the defense again controlling most of the action.

Defensively, Brett Warren (Clifton, Va.), Cary Wade (Fairfax, Va.) and William Wall (Washington, D.C.) each compiled a team-best six tackles. Wall also recorded a sack while Warren was in on a sack and Wade had a tackle for loss. Robert Parker (Chesapeake, Va.) had five tackles and had the only interception of the game, picking off Greg Boone (Chesapeake, Va.). Chris Ellis (Roanoke Rapids, N.C.) amassed five tackles, including two for loss, had a pass break-up and was in on a sack.

Brandon Flowers (Delray Beach, Fla.) totaled four tackles, two of which went for a loss. Xavier Adibi (Hampton, Va.) chipped in four tackles.

George Bell (Fayetteville, N.C.) paced the offense, scoring one of the two touchdowns on the day. However, Carlton Weatherford (Danville, Va.) provided the first score on a one-yard plunge up the middle. Bell's touchdown came on a five-yard scamper. For the day, Bell rushed 13 times for 34 yards.

Dustin Pickle (Salem, Va.) carried eight times for 23 yards while Ike Whitaker (Germantown, Md.) also totaled 23 yards on three rushes.

Sean Glennon (Centreville, Va.) amassed 96 yards after connecting on 8-of-21 attempts. Cory Holt (Lexington, N.C.) totaled 36 yards while completing 5-of-10.

Brandon Pace (Virginia Beach, Va.) connected on two of his three field goal attempts. Pace made his first from 26 yards out before having his 49-yard attempt was blocked by Orion Martin (Martinsville, Va.). He came back to nail his third attempt, this time from 37 yards out.

Jud Dunlevy (Roanoke Rapids, N.C.) hit both of his field goals. The first came from 31 yards out while his second was good from 26 yards. Dustin Keys (Stafford, Va.) missed a 31-yard attempt early in the scrimmage, but later connecting on one from 35 yards out.

Tech returns to practice on Monday in preparation of next Saturday's spring game. The game will be played in Lane Stadium and is slated to start at 2 p.m.
