ACC releases pre-season football television coverage

Schedule 2006 Updated Schedule
GREENSBORO, N.C. - The 2006 Atlantic Coast Conference pre-season television football schedule released Tuesday lists 18 games, including 12 regular season conference match-ups. The schedule is comprised of the first three weeks of the season and its ESPN Thursday night package.

Four Virginia Tech game times were released on Tuesday. Tech's Sept. 9 game at the University of North Carolina will be televised by ESPN and will kick off at noon. The Hokies' Sept. 16 contest against Duke will also start at noon and will be broadcast by Lincoln Financial Sports/Raycom. Tech's two Thursday night games (Oct. 12 at Boston College and Oct. 26 vs. Clemson) were announced as ESPN broadcasts that will start at 7:30 p.m., as have in the past.

ESPN is slated to televise nine games, while ESPN2 will carry two games, including Boston College at Central Michigan in the league's season opener on Thursday, Aug. 31. ABC will air five games including the league's second annual ACC Football Championship game scheduled for Alltel Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 2. Lincoln Financial Sports/Raycom is slated to carry two conference games starting with the Duke at Wake Forest contest on Sept. 9.

The ACC has three primetime national telecasts scheduled over the first three weekends of the season starting with Notre Dame at Georgia Tech on Sept. 2 (ABC; 8:00), Florida State at Miami, Sept. 3 (ABC; 8:00) and Clemson at Florida State, Sept. 16 (ESPN; 7:45).

After the weekend of Sept. 16, ABC, ESPN and Lincoln Financial Sports/Raycom will make their weekly selections using a 12-day option.

The remaining game times and television coverages will be announced closer to game day.
