GREENSBORO, N.C. - Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford announced today that the ACC will extend its agreement with Jacksonville, Fla., to host the 2007 ACC Football Championship Game.

This year's ACC Championship Game will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007, in Jacksonville Municipal Stadium (formerly Alltel Stadium) and will mark the third year that Jacksonville will host the ACC football title game.

In the league's inaugural championship game in 2005, Florida State defeated Virginia Tech 27-22. This past season, in the second ACC football championship game, Wake Forest captured its first league football title since 1970, defeating Georgia Tech 9-6.

John Swofford, ACC Commissioner: "We are pleased to extend our agreement with Jacksonville and the Gator Bowl Association to host the 2007 ACC Football Championship game. After discussions with our member schools, it was obvious that everyone has been delighted with Jacksonville's hospitality throughout the first two years as well as the Gator Bowl Associations' management of the game. Our league has excellent relationships throughout Jacksonville and we look forward to continuing those relationships through the 2007 championship game festivities."

Jacksonville Mayor John Peyton: "Jacksonville has a rich sports history serving as host for a vast array of collegiate and professional sporting events. We are thrilled to continue this tradition by hosting the ACC Championship Game this year. We look forward to again welcoming players and fans to our great city."

Kelly Madden, Gator Bowl Association Chairman: "We are very excited to be a partner with the City of Jacksonville in continuing our relationship with the ACC to put on their football championship game. It is our belief that this game has the potential to be one of the most important games in college football."

Rick Catlett, Gator Bowl Association President: "We are extremely pleased that the City of Jacksonville will continue to be the host city for the 2007 ACC Football Championship game. The City and the Gator Bowl Association enjoy a wonderful partnership with Commissioner Swofford and the Atlantic Coast Conference, and we look forward to working together to insure the 2007 ACC Football Championship game is a success and surpasses all expectations."
