The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its weekly player of the week awards Monday afternoon with Virginia Tech senior linebacker Vince Hall winning the Defensive Lineman of the Week Award. He was also voted the Virginia Lottery Virginia Tech Athlete of the Week.

DEFENSIVE LINEMAN-Vince Hall, Virginia Tech, Inside Linebacker, 6-0, 238, Senior, Chesapeake, Va.
Virginia Tech inside linebacker Vince Hall has been selected as the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week. Hall, a senior from Chesapeake, Va., led the Hokie defense with 14 total tackles in Saturday's 28-7 win against Ohio. Hall added three tackles for loss, two sacks and a pass breakup in the game as the Virginia Tech defense held Ohio to just 114 total yards and five first downs.

OFFENSIVE BACK-Matt Ryan, Boston College, Quarterback, 6-5, 220, Senior, Exton, Pa.
Boston College senior quarterback Matt Ryan was chosen today as the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Back of the Week. In Saturday night's win over No. 15 Georgia Tech, the Exton, Pa. native completed 30 of 44 pass attempts for a career high 435 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions. On his team's opening drive of the night, Ryan led the Eagle offense on an 11-play, 95-yard touchdown drive to take a 7-0 lead that would never be relinquished. Boston College went on to amass 527 total yards of offense against the stout Yellow Jacket defense.

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN-Eugene Monroe, Virginia, Offensive Tackle, 6-6, 315, Junior, South Plainfield, N.J.
Eugene Monroe, left tackle for the Virginia Cavaliers, has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week for his play on Saturday against North Carolina. Monroe, a junior from South Plainfield, N.J., helped pave the way for the Cavalier running backs as they cruised to a season-high 197 rushing yards in the 22-20 win over the Tar Heels. Monroe also provided solid pass protection for quarterbacks Jameel Sewell and Peter Lalich, who combined to complete 66.7 percent of their passes on the day.

DEFENSIVE BACK-Vincent Rey, Duke, Outside Linebacker, 6-0, 255, Sophomore, Far Rockaway, N.Y.
Duke's Vincent Rey was chosen as the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Back of the Week for his effort in the Blue Devil win over previously unbeaten Northwestern on Saturday. Rey, a product of Far Rockaway, N.Y., was credited with 11 tackles, two tackles for loss and four pass breakups in Duke's 20-14 win. The senior outside linebacker currently ranks third in the conference in tackles per game (11.3) and is tied for eighth with an average of 1.33 tackles for loss per game.

SPECIALIST-Chris Gould, Virginia, Place kicker, 6-1, 204, Senior, Lock Haven, Pa.
Virginia place kicker Chris Gould has been voted the Atlantic Coast Conference Specialist of the Week. Gould, a senior out of Lock Haven, Pa., tied a school record with five field goals in the Cavaliers' 22-20 win at North Carolina on Saturday. His 51-yarder in the first quarter tied the fifth-longest field goal in school history and his 32-yarder with 8:56 remaining in the game proved to be the game-winner for the Cavaliers.

ROOKIE-T.J. Yates, North Carolina, Quarterback, 6-3, 205, Freshman, Marietta, Ga.
North Carolina Freshman quarterback T.J. Yates was today selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week, collecting the honor for the second time this season. In Saturday's 22-20 loss to Virginia, Yates completed 25 of 38 passes for 339 yards and three touchdowns, giving him nine for the season. With his performance on Saturday, Yates set a new North Carolina record for passing and for total offense against the Cavaliers. His 339 passing yards were the ninth-most in school history.
