BLACKSBURG - A pair of standouts on the Virginia Tech defense are a part of the 2007 Associated Press All-America Team announced Tuesday by the press agency. Junior cornerback Brandon Flowers and senior linebacker Xavier Adibi were both honored as Flowers made the second team and Adibi the third team.

For Flowers, it's his third-such honor by one of the five major All-America teams recognized by Tech. He was named to the first team by the AFCA and to the second-team by Walter Camp. The Sporting News and the FWAA comprise the other two recognized All-America teams. They released their A-A squads last week.

Flowers anchored a Virginia Tech secondary that limited opponents to 199.2 yards passing this season. He has 79 tackles, including seven for loss, with five interceptions and seven pass break-ups.

For Adibi, it's his second honor as he earned first-team honors from the AFCA. He leads the team with 108 stops, including 12.0 for loss and 3.0 sacks. He also has two interceptions, five pass break ups and seven quarterback hurries.
