Five game times announced for Hokies

BLACKSBURG - The Atlantic Coast Conference office released Tuesday the early season football television schedule, including five Virginia Tech football contests.

Tech will open the season on Aug. 30 against East Carolina University at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium. That game will commence at noon and will be broadcast on ESPN.

The following week, the Hokies will host Furman University in a 1:30 p.m. tilt at Lane Stadium/Worsham Field. As of now, there is no television, but that could change as the game gets closer. On Sept. 13, Tech will entertain the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech. That game will begin at 3:30 p.m., and will be broadcast by either ABC or ESPN.

Tech’s two ESPN Thursday night contests will begin at their usual 7:30 p.m. time. On Thursday, Nov. 6, the Hokies will host the University of Maryland and then, one week later, travel to Florida to take on the University of Miami at Dolphin Stadium.

The ACC also announced that the game time for the Dr. Pepper ACC Championship game will be 1 o’clock with the game being shown on ABC.

Game times for the rest of Tech’s schedule will be released at a later time, usually 12 days before the game, but as close as six days before.

The Tech football team will report to campus on Sunday, Aug. 3.
